Delhi Women’s Commission chairperson Swati Maliwal has sat on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. On Tuesday morning, she paid respect at the Samadhi of the first president of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and started his movement at Jantar Mantar. The key demand of Swati Maliwal is to implement the law to hang the rapists within 6 months and make the system fit and responsible.
Swati Maliwal said, ‘We are demanding that the rapists of young children or women should be punished harshly. There are laws in the country but not being implemented because neither police resources are being increased, nor fast track courts are being made. The last time I went on a hunger strike, I was assured but it is not implemented till date.’
